Main explosion-proof ways and methods for mining explosion-proof electrical equipment

1

1. Install protective casing

The underground environment of coal mines is complex. Not only are various production materials piled up, but there may also be gas. If arcs and sparks are generated during the operation of electrical equipment for various reasons, fires and explosions may occur. A protective device called a flameproof casing is specifically used to protect electrical components and the entire electrical equipment. After installing this flameproof casing, the arcs, sparks and explosions generated by electrical components or equipment will be isolated inside and will not affect the external environment and surrounding equipment. This method has a high application rate in coal mine underground motor equipment and high and low voltage switches, and the effect is relatively good.

 2. Use intrinsically safe circuits

Intrinsically safe circuits are an emerging concept of safety circuits, which mainly refers to the fact that even if a short circuit or spark occurs during the operation of the circuit, the degree is not enough to ignite or detonate surrounding combustibles and combustible gases. At present, this special form of safety circuit has been widely used in my country’s energy, textile and other industries. Intrinsically safe circuits can operate stably between dangerous areas and safe areas in electrical systems. The essential characteristics of intrinsically safe circuits mean that their current and voltage parameters are relatively small, so they are more suitable for small measuring instruments and communication line systems in coal mines.

 3. Take safety enhancement measures

This method refers to taking targeted protective measures for the characteristics of different electrical equipment and circuit systems that generate sparks and other safety hazards. The main phenomena to be prevented include short circuits, overheating, sparks, arcs, etc., and the main methods used include improving insulation strength and doing a good job of cooling. These safety enhancement measures are generally applied to transformers and motors in coal mines, which can effectively improve the safety level of electrical equipment itself.

 4. Automatic cut-off device

By installing sensors at appropriate locations of electrical equipment and electrical systems, once short circuits, overheating, and sparks are detected, the power supply and circuit are automatically cut off. The advantage of this method is that it can effectively replace manual real-time monitoring of electrical equipment and make effective treatment at the first time of danger. In this way, the power supply can often be cut off before the heat source and sparks ignite coal dust and gas in the surrounding environment to prevent the occurrence of explosions.
